Make Your Own Microwavable Rice Packet

How many times have you thrown things away because they've gone bad? We eat a lot of rice in Hawaii. Sometimes there are days when we make a pot of rice, and it doesn't get eaten completely. My mom taught me this trick. They sell microwavable rice packets at stores.

At Asian Food Grocer (online), it's $2.78 each.

We would make individual rice packets with plastic wrap (Saran Wrap). We put the rice packets in the freezer for later. So when we make a dish, we wouldn't need to cook rice. We could heat up a rice packet for ourselves. In a 1000W microwave, it takes a little less than a minute to heat up a rice packet. You can also just look at the packet when it's in the micro. If the wrap starts creating a bubble, it's ready to eat! (:

Works with any type of rice!
